5 Plus Size Fashion Tips: Staying Cool During Summer

I don't know the current weather stats for where you may live, but baaaaby, it feels like I've stepped into a sauna each time I set foot out my door!!  Any of my southern readers feeling me?  Obviously summer is in full force and the heat wave is on!  With temps soaring into the 90's and heat indexes above 100, I can only think of dressing cool, comfy, and easy breezy right now.  I don't want any clothing touching me, sticking to me,  restricting me in any way whatsoever.
I've lived in the south all of my life, and let me tell you, southern summers are like no others I know.  You know, out west and further north, sure you have summer temps that rise well into the 90's but most times it is a dryer heat than down south.  Here in South Carolina the humidity is something dreadful.  I stay inside as much as possible and loathe the times I actually have to grocery shop, or go to the pharmacy, or pay bills...any errands really...lol.  So, if you ever visit from another part of the country or another nation here are my top five tips on staying cool while you're here.
Lace Tank ~ It's Fashion (old and last worn here)
1.  Tanks made of flow-y, breathable materials are a God-send in southern summers.  Try choosing one like I'm wearing that features lace cut outs.  If you're really brave, just wear a cute funky colored bra top or bandeau and nix the tank like what I'm wearing under the lacy one.  I'm a bit more modest, some say prude, eh...whatevs...lol.
Cropped Denim Capris ~ JcPenney a.n.a (gifted from my best friend) last worn here
2.  Cotton and cotton blended fabrics are your friend.  Wearing denim capris such as these will keep your legs covered from mosquitoes, because honey they are like vampires here.  Denim will allow air through to keep you cool during the day and evening.
Floral tank underneath lacy tank ~  Lane Bryant (old as dirt, I've had it like 4 or 5 years)
3.  Cute thong sandals are a must so your feet can breathe...duh.  Who wants to walk around with their feet smelling remotely of Doritos?? Ummm, not this fashionista.  During the summer months, you will rarely catch me sporting sneaks, unless headed to the gym, or flats.  Cute open toed, peep toed, or sandals with toes allll the way out is what you'll find me wearing.  Keeps the sweat at bay for me...

 4.  Sweating is inevitable during hot, muggy, southern summers.  I like wearing my hair up off my neck and out of my way because it is entirely, absolutely, insanely hoooot.  Whew....get my drift.  Accessorizing with a scarf is a fun and practical way to keep your hair tied back and worry free, while still looking like the fabulous lady you are.  Especially when humidity hits it...hoooney.  Bad hair days are gonna happen if your hair is prone to frizzing like mine.
5.  And finally, my best tip of all.  Girrrlll, stay near a pool (in a fabulous swim suit of course.)  Buy all the ice cream, Popsicles, and slushies your heart desires.  Drink all the southern sweet tea and lemonade you can find.  Or like me, retreat to the air conditioning if you just can't take it.

What about you guys?  What are you wearing during this heat wave?  Thanks for reading friends, until next time.....

  3. I stayed in South Carolina when my son graduated basic training at Fort Jackcon and my oh my it was pretty steamy. Pittsburgh gets very humid as well but this summer has been very strange what with the cool, rainy weaather. I'm with you on not wanting any clothing to touch my body when it's real hot and humid but it's looking like we aren't going to have a real summer this year - bummer. Like your outfit and those eye glasses are sharp!! You look cool and comfy.

  5. It's been much more humid here than it should be and I am not enjoying it at all. I am not a fan of mosquitos at all, I get bitten all the time and my husband can be standing next to me and get no bites. You are looking summer perfect!

Thank you for joining TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you next week.
