Fall Lookbook: Kimono: 5 Reasons You Need One

Well, here I am wearing my latest kimono again.  I last wore it on the blog here.  Clearly it has become one of my favorite items to wear.  I think my style is evolving once again.  I've taken on a more relaxed vibe as of late and I am here for all it....lol.  Because I'm all for trying new trends, I'm sharing with you five reasons you need one of these in your life...like now!
1.  As one of the season's biggest trends, you can channel your inner 70's vibe by incorporating one into your wardrobe.  Now, you don't have to break the bank or anything like that.  In fact, I recommend testing out any trend by shopping your local thrift stores.  I found this particular one at The Clothes Mentor, a second hand thrift store for the fashionable woman you are :)
2.  You can dress it up or down.  Here, I've opted to dress mine down.  Pairing it with a colored denim jegging from Goodwill.  I think they are an Ashley Stewart jegging...can't remember.  You could easily dress up your kimono with a cute dress and some pumps.
3.  It flatters any body shape or size by elongating your torso.  And with me being 5' 3", weellll, I could use some trickery of the eye...lol.
4.  In my opinion, wearing a kimono speaks to the world about your style aesthetic.  So choose one that speaks to you.  This particular kimono caught my eye when I saw the tribal print peeking out of the clothing rack.  And theeen, I gasped when I saw the friiiinge along the hem!! Yep, I'm so totally loving that trend.  I'm out here shopping like....gimme all the fringe...lol.  Umm, yeah, pray that it doesn't take over my closet *sigh*
5.  Lastly, ummm, I plan on sitting at the Thanksgiving table wearing the absolute least restrictive clothing I can think of.  This is at the top of that list.  Kimonos flow free from the body, alas giving me all the green lights to eat some of grandma's sweet potato pie, aunty's amazing pound cake, collard greens, yams, mac-n-cheese and all the ham and turkey my belly can hold...lol.  Hungry yet?  Can ya tell this gal is from the south...lol?

  1. Love the colors and u know I'm a Kimono queen myself I can't get enough of them! .....I miss Thanksgivings when family did the cooking...now that I'm the one that has to cook the whole spread I'm too exhausted when it's done to eat with everyone else.

    1. Yeeess girl! Kimonos are the biiz-naass...lol. I'm so glad I've only got to bake a cake and maybe do the ham. All I know is I'm excited to see all my family. Enjoy your holiday, take some frequent breaks.

  8. I love #5! haha. I'm the same way. I definately lean towards comfort on Thanksgiving! The baking/cooking, eating, and football watching with family require comfort. But seriously - I do love kimonos! They are so flattering and can add such fun color to an outfit.
